Lumber Grading Short Course
The value of “rules conscious” employees is a more carefully
manufactured product, a more profitable yield from the log, and a better
sense of the value of the lumber being handled. This three-day workshop
will include a thorough study and explanation of the NHLA Rule Book, emphasizing
the basics of hardwood lumber inspection.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Anyone wanting to become familiar with the lumber grading rules and process.
This popular workshop gives yardmen, sawyers, edgermen, and management-level
personnel such as sales and office staff, an introduction to lumber inspection.
INSTRUCTOR
Mark Horne, a 1977 graduate of the NHLA Inspection Training School in
Memphis, TN has worked in the hardwood lumber industry for over thirty
years. He was the director of the NHLA Inspection Training School from
1988-1992 and was also the main lecturer. He has been the Chief Inspector
for the NHLA for ten years and supervised all of the NHLA "national"
inspectors throughout the US & Canada. He is also the final say in
all rules interpretations.
